Application for Camp Counselor at Camp Seaside

Dear FRCE Hiring Team,

I am applying for the position of a Camp Counselor at the summer day camp Camp Seaside. I heard about this position through the advertisement posted in the Sunday issue of the Freeport Flyer.

I have an abundant amount of experience working with children through babysitting. I can handle babysitting groups of children for extended periods of time comfortably on my own. I have designed a multitude of outdoor activities including scavenger hunts, field day games, and diving contests. Many of these activities are suitable for multiple children and were carried out successfully. For some of these activities I had to communicate with multiple different sets of parents. I have been working with children for six years and am familiar with the challenges that caring for them may bring. I enjoy and thrive in a working environment that challenges me and is fast paced.

I have the energy to keep up with children of all ages for multiple consecutive hours. I keep myself accountable for deadlines and take initiative to spearhead activities without needing to be asked. I have a positive attitude and enjoy working with children no matter the setting. Children’s safety is the number one priority to me with a close second being their enjoyment.

I look forward to being able to speak with you more in depth about the skills I can bring to this position. Thank you for taking the time to consider my application.

Sincerely,

Rachel Gardner

Volunteer Prompt One

So I did a little silly one first just to get my gears turning. I decided to include it as I think it is kind of funny but I understand it’s likely not what you were looking for. My more serious answer to the prompt is the second one.

Prompt: You are running a telethon to benefit a children’s charity. Using AIDA, write an  appeal to a local business seeking donations to the telethon. Be specific about what charity you are writing for and the company to which you are writing.

Do you hate children? I hope you answered no. No matter your answer it’s important that people think you DON’T hate children. When people think you hate children they don’t support your business. And we all know business support is more important than whether or not you actually hate children. So no matter your answer you should at least pretend to like children. That way your business can thrive. How do you pretend to like children? By giving children’s charities money. Preferably in a public way. That way people can see you giving children’s charity money and they can believe that you don’t hate kids. But how do you give children’s charities money in a public way? Via a telethon of course. Broadcast all over the country plenty of people will be tuning in and get to see your display of wealth and charity. Which will only help to increase your business and wealth in turn. So be sure to tune into the Saint Jude cancer patient telethon this Saturday (1/25/25) at 9:00pm and show everyone just how much you don’t hate kids.

More seriously:

Has someone you’ve known ever had a child diagnosed with cancer? How do you help someone who’s going through that? In truth there’s not a lot you can do. Even still there are a few things you can do to help people in need. One of these ways is donating money to local charities to help families in need. This is helpful for the families. It can also be helpful for your local businesses. Helping to support local families in need can increase local goodwill towards your business. Donating to local families can not only help them through their cancer struggles but it can also help you grow your business. This Saturday (1/25/25) at 9:00pm there will be a telethon for the Saint Jude children’s cancer hospital. Donating will not only show the local community you care but it will also act as free advertisement for your business. The telethon will be running from 9:00pm until the donation is reached so make sure to get your donations in early before it closes. Thank you for your time and support!
